Lynn Geisler Wraps Up Season with Eighth Place Finish at the ‘Pittsburgher’
Cranberry Township, PA (September 23, 2008) The Geisler Racing Team and National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Member Lynn Geisler’s 2008 season has come to a close after the 20th Annual Pittsburgher 100 at Pittsburgh’s PA Motor Speedway (PPMS). Lynn’s season was highlighted by two wins at PPMS and a third place finish in the Pizza Hut Super Late Models point standings behind champion Jared Miley and runner-up, Steve Baker. Geisler also picked up a win at Lernerville Speedway on his way to a second place finish in the Friedman’s Supermarket’s UMP Late Model, Budweiser point standings behind champion Alex Ferree at the Sarver, PA oval.
As the season wound down, Geisler made one last appearance at the Lernerville Speedway for the Mid-Atlantic Championship Series (MACS) sanctioned, Cleveland Brothers CAT Jim Shank Memorial presented by Potoka Trucking. The 50-lap feature was preceded with the traditional MACS four-wide salute to the fans with a bit of a twist. To honor Jim Shank’s memory, his favorite driver and long time friend, two-time MACS Champion, Lynn Geisler headed the talented formation of 27-cars during the parade lap. After the emotional pre-race ceremonies, Geisler battled his way to a 21st place finish. “We wanted to run better in honor of Jim and his family but we just couldn’t get going out there,” stated Lynn. “It was crowded out there, but all-in-all I think it was a great night and a great way to honor such a loyal person to the sport.”
The only track left on the schedule was PPMS after the Jim Shank Memorial. Lynn finished the regular season at PPMS with a sixth place run on August, 30th and a ninth place finish on September 7th leaving him third in season ending point standings.
Although Lynn’s schedule is complete for the season, the Geisler Racing Driver Development program and driver Mike Pegher, Jr. will be in action during the month of October as the Fastrak Racing Series for Crate Late Models season comes to a close. The team will be in action in Virginia and Tennessee in the coming weeks.
